Alabama Track and Field Set to Compete across the Country

The Crimson Tide will compete at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field teams are set to split up this weekend, in what will be the last meets of the indoor regular season. The women's program enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the nation with the men's side sitting at No. 14 in the country.
One group will head to Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Challenge, followed by another Tide cohort in Albuquerque, N.M., for the Don Kirby Invitational. The final UA group will head to Boston, Mass., for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
All three meets will be two-day competitions for the Crimson Tide with the women's long jump leading off the busy weekend at 9 a.m. CT on Friday morning.
Don Kirby Invitational
- Alabama will begin in the women's long jump starting at 9 a.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. start on the track in the men's 200-meters
- The women are traveling 14 to Albuquerque, while the men's travel list is 22 strong
- Albuquerque, N.M. will also serve as the host city for the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships from March 10-11
Music City Challenge
- Alabama will open the first day of competition at 5 p.m. Friday evening in the men's and women's mile
- The Tide's travel list will feature five women along with 16 men in Nashville
David Hemery Valentine Invitational
- UA will begin action up north in the women's mile, starting at 4:50 p.m. on Friday
- Seven student-athletes will make up the Boston meet, featuring Flomena Asekol, Hilary Cheruiyot, Elka Machan, Victor Kiprop, Hilda Olemomoi, Jami Reed and Jacob Wiggers
Last Time Out
- UA's men's 4x4 squad clocked the nation's then-No. 1 time to claim the event title at the Bob Pollock Invitational, while also moving into second all-time in school history
- Alabama's Chelsea Igberaese broke the school record in the women's weight throw en route to the facility record-breaking event title
- The Crimson Tide finished the weekend with 37 top-10 finishes and 21 new PR's
