
Alabama School Records Fall in Albuquerque, Boston

Tarsis Orogot and Hilda Olemomoi both broke a Crimson Tide record on Friday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Multiple school records fell for the Alabama track and field programs as Tarsis Orogot broke UA's record in the men's 200m and Hilda Olemomoi set a new Crimson Tide record in the women's 3,000-meter race.
Olemomoi clocked a 8:45.50 in Boston's David Hemery Valentine Invitational, to claim the top collegiate finish in the event. Her historic run also became the third-fastest collegiate performance all-time. On the other side of the country at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., Orogot recorded a 20.20 run to become both the world and NCAA leader in the 200-meter event. His impressive performance is now the seventh-fastest all-time collegiate mark.
Additionally, the Crimson Tide had members competing at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn. All three meets will conclude on Saturday as the final regular-season outing.
Crimson Tide Top Finishes | Don Kirby Invitational
- Alabama opened the day with a top-six finish in the men's pole vault, after John Landers finished with a 4.74m | 15-6.5 mark
- Orogot finished first in the men's 200m
- Na'Taja Ballard (23.62), Milan Fields (24.02) and Amari Obi (24.29) finished one-five-10 in the women's 200m
- UA's Samantha Kunza (19.89m | 65-3), Taylor Gorum (19.44m | 63-9) and Chelsea Igberaese (19.22m | 63-1) went four-six-seven in the women's weight throw
- Bobby Colantonio, Jr. (23.19m | 76-1) and Ruben Banks (21.69m | 71-2) finished first and fourth, respectively, in the men's weight throw
- Clayton Elder recorded a top-five finish in the men's 400m (47.84), placing fifth
- The Crimson Tide men's 4x4 relay clocked a 3:03.44, first-place finish (Chris Robinson, Leander Forbes, Corde Long, Khaleb McRae), while the women's 4x4 squad recorded a third-place finish (3:39.58) featuring Chanice Spicer, Ballard, Fields and Obi
Crimson Tide Top Finishes | Music City Challenge
- Macy Schelp broke her PR in the women's mile (4:52.36)
- Kai Connor clocked 1:22.93 for a top-20 finish in the men's 600m
- Jack Hawes and Gavin Saacke both recorded top-20 finishes in the men's 5,000m
Crimson Tide Top Finishes | David Emery Valentine Invitational
- Olemomoi finished first, collegiately, in the women's 3,000-meter race
- UA's Flomena Asekol posted a top-20 finish in the women's mile
