
Eleven Student-Athletes Land on CSC’s Academic All-District Team for Track and Field/Cross Country

Hamdani Benahmed, Carson Burian, Harry Crosby, Trevor Gunzell, John O’Donnell and David Thid earned the honor on the UA men’s side, while Miracle Ailes, Doris Lemngole, Precious Nzeakor, Joyce Oguama and Ellie Partrick represented the Crimson Tide women
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Eleven members of the Alabama track and field and cross country program earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced.
Hamdani Benahmed, Carson Burian, Harry Crosby, Trevor Gunzell, John O'Donnell and David Thid earned the honor on the UA men's side, while Miracle Ailes, Doris Lemngole, Precious Nzeakor, Joyce Oguama and Ellie Partrick represented the Crimson Tide women. All 11 student-athletes represented Alabama at Southeastern Conference Championship competition, while nine competed at the NCAA East First Round. Additionally, five of UA's honorees competed at the NCAA Championships earlier this month.
Ailes, Burian, Gunzell, Lemngole, Oguama, Partrick and Thid were all selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The Honorees
- Oguama notched First Team All-America honors, finishing as the national runner-up in women's discus
- Gunzell won silver in the men's discus at the SEC Outdoor Championships before concluding his season with second-team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships
- Partrick garnered second-team All-America honors in the women's javelin
- Lemngole swept both the steeplechase and the 5,000-meter titles at the SEC Championships before concluding her stellar season at the NCAA Championships
- Thid earned a scoring finish in the 400-meter hurdles while at the SEC Championships before qualifying and competing at the NCAA Championships
- Ailes medaled in high jump (silver) and long jump (bronze) at the SEC Outdoor Championships, while Crosby won silver in the decathlon
- Benahmed (men's 1,500m), Burian (men's steeplechase) and Nzeakor (women's 200m, 4x100m relay) competed at the SEC Championships and earned qualifying times for the NCAA East First Round
- O'Donnell represented the Tide in the 800m at the SEC Indoor Championships
- Lemngole amassed a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in sport management
- Six student-athletes maintained a GPA above 3.7:
