Alabama-Georgia Set to Square Off Tuesday Night in Stegeman Coliseum

The Crimson Tide and Tigers will tipoff at 5:30 p.m./6:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball team will travel to Athens, Ga., to take on the Georgia Bulldogs Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. CT (6:30 p.m. ET) on SEC Network. It will mark the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season.
Most recently, the Crimson Tide used a 30-9 game-ending run to put away a pesky Missouri Tigers team, 86-76, last Saturday night inside Coleman Coliseum. Alabama came back from 14-point deficits in each half to record its second consecutive victory after going through a season-long three-game losing streak.
Tuesday's game will be the 151st meeting on the hardwood between the Bulldogs and Tide schools, which is the seventh-most games UA has played against any one opponent. The Crimson Tide owns a 98-52 lead in the series, with the 98 victories ranking fifth in program history.

- Tuesday's game will be available on SEC Network with Tom Hart (play-by-play) Dane Bradshaw (analyst) and Alyssa Lange (sideline) on the call
- The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play) and Bryan Passink (analyst) on the call while Tom Stipe (engineer) is turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.
Notes You Need To Know
- The Crimson Tide remains just outside the top-25 rankings for Week 12. Alabama is one of the top teams that are receiving votes to be ranked in both the Associated Press (77 votes, No. 27) and Ferris Mowers USA Today Coaches Poll (53 votes, No. 26) according to the most recent national rankings, which were revealed Monday afternoon.
- According to the other metric rankings, Alabama is ranked in the following (as of 1/24): No. 16 KenPom.com, No. 18 Sagarin, No. 19 ESPN.com BPI and No. 21 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Tide's "Best" NET wins (Quad 1) include: Gonzaga (No. 2), Houston (No. 3), LSU (No. 10), Tennessee (No. 11) and at Florida (No. 34).
- Alabama is the only team in the country to have four wins versus teams ranked in the top 11 of the NCAA NET rankings (No. 2 Gonzaga, No. 3 Houston, No. 10 LSU, No. 11 Tennessee).
- Nine of Alabama's 12 non-conference opponents (as of 1/23) are either in first place or tied for first in their respective conference. UA's 12 non-conference foes have combined of 68-12 (.850) record in conference action.
- Of the Tide's 12 remaining regular season contests, five games will be played against teams ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA NET Rankings: No. 4 Baylor (Saturday), at No. 5 Auburn (Feb. 1), No. 9 Kentucky (vs. UK Feb. 5, at UK Feb. 19), and at No. 10 LSU (March 5).
- The Tide is 7-0 on the season when holding the opposition to under 70 points in a game. The achievement has only been done twice in conference play against then-No. 14 Tennessee (73-68 on Dec. 29) and then-No. 13 LSU (70-67 on Jan. 19).
- Senior Keon Ellis is considered one of the top two-way players in the SEC. For the season, Ellis leads the league in free throw percentage (89.8 percent), ranks fifth in steals (2.0 spg) and tops the Tide in rebounding (6.2 rpg) while also averaging 12.0 ppg. He's stepped up his play on defense in league action, leading the SEC in conference games only at 3.0 steals per contest.
- The Tide's schedule ranks No. 1 in the nation in every major rating system including: Average Opponent NET Ranking, KenPom.com, ESPN BPI, Sagarin Rankings and RealTimeRPI.
- NET RANKING FACTS: Alabama has a NET Ranking of No. 20 in the nation as of 1/24 which is fifth-best in the SEC... About Alabama
- The Crimson Tide is led by three players who average double figures in Jaden Shackelford (16.9 ppg), Jahvon Quinerly (14.8 ppg) and Keon Ellis (12.0 ppg). The trio combines to account for 54 percent (43.7 of the 81.4 points per game average), 69 percent of the three-pointers made (120 of 175), 52 percent field goals made (282 of 544) and 52 percent of the total free throws made (147 of 283).
- The Tide youth has also shined this season. A pair of freshmen have also made their mark through the early portion of the schedule in guard JD Davison and center Charles Bediako. Davison, a consensus five star and McDonald's All-American, ranks second on the team in assists (3.9 apg) while also ranking among the team leaders at 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest. Bediako has been a strong inside presence, collecting 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and a team-leading 1.6 blocks a game. Meanwhile, sophomore Juwan Gary has also been impressive in his second year at UA, averaging 8.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
- As a team, Alabama is averaging 81.4 points per contest, which ranks second the SEC and 12th nationally, and is ranked No. 10 in the nation in offensive efficiency, according to KenPom.com (1/24). The Tide is outscoring the competition by an average of 7.1 points per game (81.1-74.3) and owns a +4.0 advantage on the boards (40.4-36.4). The Tide is averaging 9.2 threes made per game, which leads the SEC, while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the charity stripe.
- Defensively, the Crimson Tide is ranked 60th nationally in defensive efficiency, according to KenPom.com. For the year, Alabama is allowing opponents to average 74.3 points per game while limiting foes to 43.2 percent shooting from the field and 31.1 percent from beyond the arc.
- Alabama was picked to finish second in the league in voting by a select panel of both SEC and national media members. Kentucky was the preseason favorite to win this year's regular season title, followed by the Tide, Arkansas, Tennessee and Auburn to round out the top five. Both Quinerly and Shackelford were named to the SEC Preseason First Team.
- The Tide holds an all-time record of 1,730-1,073-1 (.616), which includes an 819-631 (.565) record in SEC play. By capturing its 800th SEC win, Alabama joined Kentucky as the only two teams in conference history to reach the milestone. UA also became the third team in the SEC and 34th team in NCAA history to reach 1,700 program wins. Only Kentucky and Arkansas have more wins than the Crimson Tide.
About Georgia
- Georgia comes into Tuesday night's contest having dropped its first six SEC contests, eight consecutive games and nine of its last 10. Most recently, the Bulldogs fell at South Carolina, 83-66, last Saturday. Georgia held a 42-36 lead at intermission, however, the Gamecocks used a 22-0 run to help outscore the Bulldogs by 23 points (47-24) in the second half.
- Three Georgia players average in double digits led by sophomore Kario Oquendo and senior Braelen Bridges at 12.6 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. Graduate student Jailyn Ingram also averages in double figures at 10.6 ppg while topping the squad at 6.0 rebounds a game.
- Point guard Aaron Cook averages just shy of double figures at 9.7 ppg, leads the team and ranks second in the SEC in assists per game at 6.1, while also topping the team in steals (1.4) and minutes (32.8).
- As a team, Georgia ranks second in the SEC in free throws made (292), free throws attempted (394) and free throw percentage (74.1 percent). Those numbers also rank No. 16, No. 21 and No. 77 in the nation, respectively. The Bulldogs average 69.9 points per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from deep. Defensively, Georgia ranks last points allowed (75.9), scoring margin (-6.0) and field goal percentage defense (,461)
- Against league competition, Georgia is being outscored by 13.3 points a game (70.0-83.3) and shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 33.6 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs are allowing SEC foes to shoot 50.0 percent from the floor and 32.5 percent from deep while getting outrebounded by an average of 2.2 boards per contest (31.7-33.8)
- Tom Crean is in his fourth season at the helm of the Georgia program and owns a 46-61 (.430) record. Now in his 22nd season as a head coach, Crean, whose coaching stints include stops at Marquette (1999-2008) and Indiana (2008-17), owns an career record of 402-292 (.579).

- The contest is the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season. Last season, the Crimson Tide swept both games from the Bulldogs. Alabama first captured an impressive 115-82 win over Georgia in Coleman Coliseum (2/13/21), which was the second-most points scored in a single game in program history. The two teams met again in the regular season finale, as the Crimson Tide scored 59 second half points to secure an 89-79 come-from-behind win in Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs led by 14 points (29-15) midway through the first half before Alabama used a 30-9 run the spanned halftime to cruise to the 10-point win. - Alabama has a record of 35-32 when playing Georgia in Athens including wins in three of the last four and five of the last seven games played at Stegeman Coliseum between the rivals.
