
Men’s Basketball Faces Iowa in Des Moines

The Crimson Tide and Hawkeyes will meet for the third time overall and first since 2010
The Alabama men's basketball team will face Iowa in a neutral site matchup, on Dec. 21, at the Casey's Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
It will be the first of a two-game series against the Hawkeyes, as the second game will be played during the 2027-28 season in Mobile, Ala. A date has not been finalized.
The Matchup
- Alabama and Iowa have previously met twice with the two teams splitting the previous matchups
- Both previous matchups were played at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands back in 2010 (Iowa defeated Alabama 55-47) and in 2006 (No. 10 Alabama defeated Iowa 72-60)
- This will be Alabama's first game played in the state of Iowa
- Both Alabama and Iowa reached the Sweet 16 in the 2026 NCAA Tournament
- Under head coach Nate Oats, Alabama is 8-7 against Big Ten opponents
- The Hawkeyes went 2-0 against Southeastern Conference opponents during head coach Ben McCollum's first season at Iowa defeating Ole Miss in the Acrisure Classic and defeating Florida in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament
