Alabama Track and Field Goes 1-2 in the Pole Vault on Day One of the Vanderbilt Invitational

Sophomore Jake Spotswood got the win in the men’s pole vault after clearing 17-0.75
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama track and field team took first and second in the men's pole vault and posted four top-two finishes on day one of the Vanderbilt Invitational Friday.
The Crimson Tide swept the top-two spots in the men's pole vault with sophomore Jake Spotswood getting the win after clearing 17-0.75 (5.20m) and senior Will Herrscher taking second with a mark of 16-8.75 (5.10m).
Freshman Bobby Colantonio moved up one spot from last week at the Blazer Invitational to take second in the men's weight throw with a toss of 67-0.75 (20.44m).
Alabama also took second in the men's distance medley relay in a tight race with Georgia Tech. Junior Clay Austell and sophomore Andrew Powell combined with seniors Connor Ferrentino and Vincent Kiprop to cross the line with a time of 10:04.54, less than a half second behind the Yellow Jackets.
The Crimson Tide returns to action on Saturday with a full slate of events starting at 10 a.m. ET.
