"We got off to a good start last week," UA head coach Dan Waters said. "Now, we're looking forward to getting more people out there this weekend in Nashville and building as we go along."
The Crimson Tide opened the season with a solid start at the Blazer Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., with a pair of meet records to go along with two individual wins and eight top-three finishes.
Several Alabama student-athletes posted strong marks to start the season. On the men's side of the slate, junior Shelby McEwen's 7-4.25 in the high jump ranked second in the nation, while senior Skyler Bowden was ninth nationally in the 300 meters with a 33.75.
The Vanderbilt Invitational gets started Friday afternoon with the men's and women's high jump, weight throw and long jump as well as the men's pole vault and the men's and women's 200 meters, 5,000 meters and distance medley relays.
The remainder of the events will be held Saturday, starting at 10:30 p.m. ET.
