Alabama Drops Game Two to Missouri, 5-2, to Even Weekend Series

The Crimson Tide hit two home runs in the first inning, put the tying run on base in the seventh
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Trailing by three in the top of the seventh, Alabama brought the potential go-ahead run to the plate with two out but Missouri ultimately halted the late rally attempt and handed the Crimson Tide the 5-2 loss to even the weekend series.
Alabama (28-2, 6-2 SEC) jumped ahead early on Missouri (15-17, 1-4 SEC) with a pair of solo home runs in the first inning from Audrey Vandagriff and Alexis Pupillo. The Tigers took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third, two of which were unearned, and then tacked on two more in the remaining frames to make it a 5-2 ballgame heading to the top of the seventh. Mari Hubbard looked to spark the comeback, leading off the half-inning with a double down the line. The Tide eventually loaded the bases with two out, but a lineout to shortstop ended the rally and the game as Missouri held on for the three-run victory, its first this season in SEC play.
