The Crimson Tide win its first three SEC series for the first time since 2019
COLUMBIA, Mo. – With the weekend series even heading into Sunday's finale, Alabama was able to hold on for the one-run victory and defeat Missouri, 4-3, for its third SEC series victory of the season.
Alabama's (29-2, 7-2 SEC) win over Missouri (15-18, 1-5 SEC) secured the Crimson Tide's third SEC series victory of the year, marking the first time since 2019 that Alabama has won its first three conference series of the season. After falling behind 2-0 early, Ambrey Taylor put the Tide in front with a three-run home run in the fourth inning and the Tide didn't trail for the remainder of the game. A fifth-inning solo home run from Ana Roman was part of a 2-for-4 day from the freshman and it proved crucial as the Tigers fought back with a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 4-3. Jocelyn Briski (12-0) shut the door in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of strikeouts and a flyout to secure her second complete-game win of the weekend and her fourth straight.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"I was really pleased with the grit and resiliency of the team today. It was a really good atmosphere at Mizzou all weekend and it certainly gave them a home field advantage. Ambrey Taylor has taken advantage of every opportunity she's been given and today she answered the call again. Jocelyn [Briski] also had another really good game for us. I've been really happy with what she's done this year."
