
No. 21/20 Alabama Football Rolls to 73-0 Win over ULM

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 21/20 Alabama football team (1-1) earned the win in its home opener, taking down ULM (1-1) 73-0 in front of a sold-out crowd inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Crimson Tide totaled 583 yards of offense in the victory while limiting the Warhawks to just 148 total yards. Quarterback Ty Simpson finished a perfect 17-fof-17 passing with 226 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow quarterbacks Austin Mack and Keelon Russell also saw time at signal-caller, with Mack completing 8-of-10 passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns, while Russell closed with 65 passing yards and two touchdowns on 4-of-6 passing.
AK Dear paced the Tide backfield, managing 76 rushing yards on five carries, highlighted by a 56-yard touchdown run. Kevin Riley contributed 11 attempts for 69 yards with Richard Young adding six carries for 19 yards and a touchdown. Germie Bernard paced the Alabama receivers with three catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Including Bernard, six Alabama receivers recorded at least one touchdown reception.
Defensively, the Crimson Tide defense managed 12 tackles for loss and forced three turnovers, including two forced fumbles and one interception. James Smith led the defensive effort, contributing four total tackles, including three for loss (-7 yards). Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and QB Reese each forced a fumble while Justin Jefferson picked off a pass.

- Alabama has now won 13 consecutive games at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, a streak that began in 2023

- Simpson completed all 17 of his passes, the most consecutive completions by an individual quarterback to begin a contest in program history
- Simpson's 17 consecutive completions is the second-most overall by an Alabama quarterback in program history, trailing only Mac Jones (19) in 2020
- Simpson is the first UA quarterback since Tua Tagovailoa (8-for-8) against Louisiana on Sept. 29, 2018, to post a 100 percent completion percentage in a game
- Germie Bernard was responsible for two receiving touchdowns, the first UA player to bring in two receiving scores in a contest since Ryan Williams against Western Kentucky on Aug. 31, 2024
