
No. 17/16 Alabama Football Wins 24-21 Thriller Over No. 5/3 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 17/16 Alabama football team handed No. 5/3 Georgia its first loss of the season defeating the Bulldogs, 24-21, Saturday night inside Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium. With the win, the Crimson Tide (3-1, 1-0 SEC) snaps Goergia's 33-game winning streak at home.
Simpson finished 24-of-38 through the air, throwing for 276 passing yards and two touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback also ran for a touchdown, his second of the season. Germie Bernard and Isaiah Horton each scored a touchdown through the air, as Horton led the Tide with 65 receiving yards.
The Alabama defense allowed just seven points in the second half, as Bray Hubbard forced the only turnover of the game. The Tide recorded six tackles for loss while Hubbard led the way with nine total tackles, including five solo tackles.

- With the victory over No. 5/3 Georgia, head coach Kalen DeBoer is now 16-3 against Associated Press Top 25 opponents, including a 6-1 mark versus top 10 foes
- DeBoer now owns 16 wins over AP Top 25 opponents since 2021, trailing only Kirby Smart (22) for the most AP Top 25 victories in that span
- With tonight's victory, DeBoer improved to 40-2 in the month of September across the Division I and NAIA levels. That mark also includes an 18-2 standing against Division I opponents, while DeBoer is now 4-1 against ranked opponents in September contests
