Robinson, Olemomoi Clock NCAA-Leading Times to Open Battle on the Bayou and the Stanford Invitational

Robinson’s first-place time of 49.13 and Olemomoi’s first-place time of 32:22.20 is the fastest time in the NCAA this season in their respective events
BATON ROUGE, La. – Alabama track and field's Chris Robinson highlighted the opening day of the Battle of the Bayou, clocking the NCAA-leading time in the men's 400-meter hurdles via a 49.13 performance, grabbing a first-place finish en route to also setting a meet record.
In addition to Robinson's electric performance, distance runner Ethan Lemons broke a meet record (14:07.88) of his own in the men's 5,000-meter run, effectively clocking the second-fastest time in the nation this season. Before the opening night was finished, Carson Burian took the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase crown behind a 9:04.20 performance.
Across the opening day, Alabama picked up 17 top-10 finishes, nine of which coming within the top-five threshold behind the backs of Ruben Banks in the men's weight throw (fifth | 65.77m (215-09)), Robinson and Clayton Elder (fifth | 51.43) in the men's 400-meter hurdles, Burian, Hudson Hurst (third | 9:10.15) and Carter Waters (fifth | 9:14.12) in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, as well as Lemons, Brandon Passmann (second | 14:19.09) and Will Pinson (fourth | 14:30.87) in the men's 5,000-meter run.
On the west coast at the Stanford Invitational, Hilda Olemomoi clocked an NCAA-leading 32:22.20 in the women's 10,000-meter run to claim first, with Victor Kiprop adding a fourth-place finish on the men's side after crossing the line in 28:07.86.
CRIMSON TIDE TOP FINISHES – BATTLE ON THE BAYOU
- Ruben Banks finished fifth in the men's hammer throw with a 65.77-meter (215-09) throw
- Banks' mark is good enough for fifth in program history
- Victoria Faber collected a sixth-place finish in the women's pole vault with a 4.00-meter (13-1.5) jump
- Aspen Arrowsmith finished ninth in the women's javelin throw with a personal-best 46.96-meter (154-01) throw
- Chris Robinson grabbed an NCAA leading time in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a 49.13, taking first
- Clayton Elder (fifth | 51.43) and Corde Long (sixth | 51.82) added a pair of top-10 finishes in the 400-meter hurdles
- Arthur Graham finished 10th in the men's 1,500-meter with a new personal-best 3:47.37
- The men's 3,000-meter steeplechase squad of Carson Burian (first | 9:04.20), Hudson Hurst (third | 9:10.15), Carter Waters (fifth | 9:14.12) and Charlie Rogers (seventh | 9:16.96) gave the Tide a group of top-10 finishes
- The Tide collected six top-10 finishes in the men's 5,000-meter including an event win for Ethan Lemons (14:07.88)
- Lemons time of 14:07.88 is the second fastest time in the NCAA this year
- Brandon Passmann (second | 14:19.09), Will Pinson (fourth | 14:30.87), Brady Barton (sixth | 14:35.30), Joel Gardner (eighth | 14:43.56) and Jacob Harris (ninth | 14:44.71) gave the Tide top-10 finishes
- Passmann and Barton, each, record new personal-best times
