The Crimson Tide sophomore clocked a 22.78 to earn the top spot on the podium
BOCHUM, Germany – Alabama sophomore sprinter Judith Mokobe raced to a first-place finish at the German Outdoor Athletics Championships on July 26, as her time of 22.78 in the 200m Finals proved to be the top result.
Mokobe posted a time of 23.25 in her initial heat, the second-best time among the 21 preliminary sprinters, before notching an eventual 22.78 in the 200m finale. Mokobe previously took home gold a season ago at the 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships, where she also earned a top standing following a time of 23.40. Mokobe, a native of Germany, was the youngest sprinter in the 200m field.
From Mokobe
"It just feels really good. To be honest, I didn't necessarily expect to become the German champion today. However, I knew I was definitely capable of running another really fast time. Conditions weren't ideal after the preliminary heat, but I told myself: in the final, we're all on a level playing field. So, I just wanted to go all out. I knew I had that kind of time in me. I'm all the happier that it actually happened here at the German Championships. I noticed during the warm-up that every movement felt right today. I had plenty of power and just a good feeling. That's when I knew it was going to be a really good day."
