
No. 13 Women’s, No. 23 Men’s Cross Country Set for Friday’s Southern Showcase

The Crimson Tide returns to action Friday morning in Huntsville, Ala., for its lone, in-state road trip of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's cross country squads return to action Friday for the Southern Showcase, a short two-hour drive up I-65, in Huntsville, Ala., at the John Hunt Cross Country Park. The men's 8k race will start at 7:30 a.m. CT, while the women's 5k race gets underway at 8:30 a.m. to close out the action.
The meet marks the shortest trip of the entire 2023 season for the Tide, joining the Crimson Classic home meet in October as the only two meets in the state of Alabama.
Crimson Tide in the Rankings
- The Alabama women are ranked No. 13 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, while the men enter at No. 23 in the nation
- Three UA runners find themselves ranked in the top 15 of FloTrack's 2023 NCAA cross country men's and women's individual rankings
- Crimson Tide newcomer Doris Lemngole ranks No. 3, while reigning SEC Women's Freshman of the Year honoree Hilda Olemomoi sits at No. 8
- Alabama is one of only two schools with multiple athletes listed in the top eight
- Reigning SEC Men's Runner of the Year recipient Victor Kiprop enters the men's list at No. 12
- Kiprop is the highest-ranked male athlete within the Southeastern Conference, and was also one of only two SEC athletes ranked in the top 15
