Alabama Rowing Travels to Sunshine State for Big Ten Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Alabama rowing program's season continues this weekend in the Sunshine State for the Big Ten Invitational. The Crimson Tide will be one of 14 schools racing in Sarasota, Fla., that is either ranked or receiving votes in the CRCA week two poll.

Alabama is coming off a five-win weekend over Big 12 conference foes No. 18 Tennessee and (RV) Oklahoma. Following the stellar performance on the water, the Crimson Tide's First Varsity Eight+ crew earned Big 12 Boat of the Week honors after securing the first of five straight wins for the program, finishing four seconds ahead of the Lady Vols and 11 seconds better than the Sooners.

Alabama will compete in nine races across three sessions, sending out three 8s and two 4s. The 1V8+ will begin the Tide's weekend campaign in Friday's morning session (8:40 a.m. CT), followed by the 1V4+ (10 a.m.) and the 3V8+ (11:20 a.m.). All three crews will race against No. 18 Tennessee, (RV) Iowa and Wisconsin.

The schools will reconvene at the course for an afternoon session that will see five Alabama boats in action. The Tide's 2V8+ (1:15 p.m.), 1V8+ (1:25 p.m.), 2V4+ (2:35 p.m.), 1V4+ (2:45 p.m.) and 3V8+ (4:35 p.m.) will all compete against No. 11 Ohio State, No. 15 SMU and (RV) Michigan State.

Before returning home, Alabama will have three more races on Saturday morning (April 8) against the likes of (RV) UCLA, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
