The Crimson Tide earned a pair of podium finishes and broke another school record on day two of action
COLLEGE-STATION, Texas – Alabama swimming and diving earned two more podium finishes and broke its third school record of the meet on day two of the SEC Championships.
The Crimson Tide women opened Tuesday's finals with another medal, finishing second in the 200 freestyle relay. Kalia Antoniou and Cat Wright found individual success of their own, with Antoniou placing third in the 50 freestyle and Wright breaking Alabama's school mark in the 200 individual medley. Wright would become the first UA woman to break the 1:56.00 barrier in the event.
Alabama closed the day with the women's team ranking fifth in the team standings with 306 points, while the men's team ranks sixth with 249 points.
Head Coach Margo Geer Said:
"It was great seeing the ladies get on the podium in the 200 free relay, setting the tone for tonight's session. Getting two people into the A-Final of the women's 200 individual medley was huge, especially with the points they scored. The men's 200 free relay is definitely something we want to keep improving on as we head into March. Having three swimmers in the A-Finals of the 500 scored some big points for us, which was huge. There were some great performances today and we're preparing ourselves to have a great day tomorrow."
