
Alabama Swimming and Diving travels to College Station for SEC Championships

Action gets underway Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT and will run through Saturday night
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Alabama swimming and diving teams are set to compete at the 2023 Southeastern Conference Championships in College-Station, Texas, Tuesday morning. The meet will run for five days, with prelims and finals each day, with the meet closing on Saturday.
The meet will open with two diving events and two relays Tuesday, before the full slate of action begins on Wednesday. Tuesday prelims will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT, with diving finals starting at 4:20 p.m. CT. The swimming finals (5 p.m. CT) will conclude the opening day of the meet. For the rest of the week, prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT and finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Every session of the 2023 SEC Championships will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with live results available on the MeetMobile app.
Alabama In The Rankings
- Alabama enters the SEC Championships with both squads currently ranked in the top-25 of the latest CSCAA Coaches Poll
- The women currently hold the No. 7 ranking, while the men check in at No. 16
- UA currently has 20 individual swims and all relays ranked in the top-25 nationally
- Entering the meet, Alabama is seeded No. 1 in four different individual events:
- Charlie Hawke (200 freestyle)
- Rhyan White (100 backstroke)
- Victor Johansson (1,650 freestyle)
- Avery Wiseman (200 breaststroke)
- The Crimson Tide is also seeded No.1 in three relays:
- The women's 200 and 400 medley relays, as well as the 200 freestyle relays
Regular Season Highlights
- Both Crimson Tide squads opened the 2022-23 season on the road on Sept. 30, with the women claiming a 161-139 victory at Arkansas and the men defeating Delta State, 186-101
- In its first home meet, both Alabama squads defeated South Carolina (Oct. 15) on its annual "Power of Pink" meet to support Alabama Athletics' breast cancer awareness initiative
- The men picked up the 179-116 win while the women secured the sweep with a 190.5-109.5 score
- The Crimson Tide traveled to Baton Rouge, La., where the team broke four LSU pool records en route to the sweep
- The men won 155-139 with the women posting a 192-118 victory
- Following the trip to Baton Rouge, Alabama swimmers traveled to College Station, Texas, for the Art Adamson Invitational while the divers competed at the WVU Invite in Morgantown, W.Va.
- The women earned a first-place finish while the men took second place
- Charlie Hawke, Rhyan White and Victor Johansson combined to break four UA school records
- Alabama started the new year at home, hosting Texas and Ohio State for a tri-meet to close out the Tide's home schedule
- In the final dual meet of the regular season, the UA women's squad defeated in-state rival, Auburn, 155-145
