- Johansson helped propel USC's 800-yard freestyle relay at the NCAA Championships, guiding the Trojans to a 22nd place finish (6:20.03)
- At Pac-12's, he was a two time finalist, finishing 7th in both the 500-yard freestyle (4:15.34/4:16.97) and the 1650-yard freestyle (15:03.03). Also appeared in USC's 800-yard freestyle relay (5th, 6:17.03)
2020-21 (University of Southern California)
- Did not compete for USC during 2020-21 season – COVID related
- Selected to represent Sweden at the 2020 Tokyo Games where he tied for 10th in the 800m freestyle and posted a personal best 7:49.14 during his Olympic debut for a Swedish record. He was also 18th in the 1500m freestyle (15:05.53).
2019-20 (University of Southern California)
- Johansson returned as a sophomore to score at Pac-12s and was primed to score at NCAAs with the 11th-fastest seed in the 1650y freestyle (14:47.27), earning CSCAA All-American honors.
- At Pac-12s, Johansson was 16th in the 1650y freestyle (15:22.47), 34th in the 500y freestyle (4:31.39) and 47th in the 200y freestyle (1:42.97)
- Against Cal, he secured second in the 1000y freestyle (9:07.58) and was fourth in 500y freestyle (4.37.93)
- Earned an NCAA B-cut at the Art Adamson Invite, completing the 500y freestyle in 4:18.22 for a third place finish.
2018-19 (University of Southern California)
- Johansson became a Pac-12 champion and NCAA Championships scorer as a 2019 freshman despite missing time during the winter due to a back injury.
- At the NCAA Championships, Johansson scored in the 1650 free with a 14th-place finish in PR (14:43.21). He finished 30th in the 500y free (4:17.01).
- Johansson was a conference winner in the 500y freestyle two weeks earlier, claiming the Pac-12 title in personal best 4:13.30. He was also eighth in the 1650y free (14:57.15) and 19th in the 200y freestyle (1:36.55).
- Johansson won nine regular-season races, including the 500y (4:17.06) and 1000y freestyle (8:57.14) at the USC Invitational.
- After the season, he competed at the Canadian Trials and won the timed finals of the 800m freestyle (7:59.77) and was first after prelims of the 400m freestyle (3:50.63) but did not race in the final.
Prep Highlights
- Johansson is one of Europe's top young distance freestyle swimmers.
- He represented Sweden at the 2017 World Championships, finishing 15th in the 1500m free (15:05.91) and 11th in the 800m free (7:52.66), both Swedish national records.
- He also owns short course records in both distances after winning titles in the events at the 2016 Swedish nationals.
- He competed at the 2015 FINA Junior Worlds, the 2016 European Juniors and the 2016 FINA Short Course Worlds.
