
Hawke’s Meet, School Record Highlights No. 19/20 Alabama Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving at Tennessee Invite

The Crimson Tide finished the opening day in third place in both the men’s and women’s team competition
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A meet and school record performance in the 500-yard freestyle by Charlie Hawke highlighted the No. 19/20 Alabama Swimming Diving team on the opening night of competition at the Tennessee Invite.
Hawke's record-setting swim was one of 17 performances that placed in the A final of an event. Additionally, Cadence Vincent secured an Olympic Trial mark in the 50-meter freestyle during the morning's preliminary session, clocking a time of 25.34.
Alabama would finish the day ranked third on both sides of the team standings as the women held 202 points and the men garnered 227.
The Women's Meet
- The team of Cadence Vincent, Kailyn Winter, Jada Scott and Diana Petkova flew past the A Standard mark in the 200-yard free relay, opening the night with a 1:28.02, third-place finish
- Mackenzie Brandt's career-best time of 4:42.55 in the 500-yard freestyle earned her a third-place finish and moved her to fourth all-time at Alabama in the event
- Liberty Williams had the fastest time in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a season-best 4:47.01 in the event, which ranked her eighth all-time at UA
- After securing an Olympic Trial cut in the meter event in the morning, Vincent went 22.10 in the 50-yard freestyle to place third overall and fifth on UA's all-time top-10 list
- Kailyn Winter (22.75) and Scott (22.38) also swam in the 50 free, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively
- Ryleigh Rodgers would close the night on the 3m board, posting a 285.35 score for eighth place
- The 400-yard medley relay team of Scott, Avery Wiseman, Gaby Van Brunt and Vincent went 3:32.67 to place fourth, while the team of Ella Menear, Kasia Norman, Winter and Petkova posted a 3:34.24 for fifth
The Men's Meet
- UA's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tim Korstanje, Kaique Alves, Charlie Hawke and Zarek Wilson captured a second-place finish off a time of 1:17.48
- The Tide followed with a fourth-place finish in the event as Ethan Otten, Joey Wachter, Bernardo Bondra de Almeida and Ben Hines clocked a 1:18.82
- Hawke's time of 4:12.91 in the 500-yard freestyle snapped the four-year old meet record time of 4:13.05, set in 2019, as he became the first UA swimmer to break 4:13 in the event. His performance also ranked him first nationally this year.
- Kaique Alves recorded a career-best time of 1:43.89 to place third and capture a B standard time in the 200-yard individual medley as freshman Tommy Hagar swam a 1:46.21 in the event for sixth place. Alves' time would move him to third all-time at UA in the event.
- Tim Korstanje reached the wall with a 19.63 to finish fourth in the 50-yard freestyle
- Peter Edin scored a 306.40 on the 1m board to finish seventh in the event, moving up from 10th place in the prelims
- UA closed the night with a 3-4 finish in the 400 medley relay as Hagar, Trey Sheils, Korstanje and Hawke recorded a 3:07.12 and Eric Stelmar, Michael Deans, De Almeida and Wilson went 3:09.85
