
Alabama Will Begin 2022 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships Friday

The Crimson Tide will tee off Friday at 2:25 p.m. CT
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of Alabama women's golf team has reached its final destination of the season, competing at the 2022 NCAA Women's Golf Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club Raptor Course (par 72, 6,399 yards) in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 20-25. Alabama will tee off on the 10th tee for the first round Friday at 2:25 p.m. CT, alongside hosts Arizona State and Virginia.
The tournament appearance marks the Crimson Tide's 16th all-time, while 15 of those have come under head coach Mic Potter. During that span, the Tide has produced one team national championship (2012) and one individual national championship (2015, Emma Talley). The Tide enjoyed a runner-up performance, in both stroke play and match play, in 2018.
Alabama is the ninth seed in a field of 24 teams this season, which features a league-record nine Southeastern Conference teams. Those 24 teams and their seeds are as follows:

The Crimson Tide will compete in its warmest temperatures all season this week, as Scottsdale is projecting between 93-101 degrees with sunny and clear skies Friday through Wednesday.

"The team is very excited to have the opportunity to return to Grayhawk Golf Club and compete for the NCAA Championship. My sense is that we feel more comfortable on this golf course than we did last year, having played a couple of practice rounds this past January. All of our ladies have shown steady improvement this spring, so I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this week."
THE LINEUP
- The Crimson Tide lineup will include Sarah Edwards, Polly Mack, Angelica Moresco, Benedetta Moresco, Emilie Øverås and Isabella van der Biest.
- Mack, A. Moresco and B. Moresco have played in the Crimson Tide lineup all season long, while junior transfer Edwards, junior Øverås and freshman van der Biest have taken turns boosting the lineup all season long.
- The Alabama women's golf team has finished in the top four in eight of 10 tournaments this season, including earning a tournament title at The Ally in West Point, Miss., Oct. 25-27.
- The Crimson Tide also had two runner-up finishes in 2021-22, including its most recent appearance at the NCAA Franklin Regional in Franklin, Tenn., May 9-11.
- UA has also garnered three individual titles, thanks to the efforts of Benedetta Moresco (1) and Polly Mack (2).
- Moresco won The Ally in West Point, Miss., Oct. 25-27 wire-to-wire on a 19-under-par 197 tournament total.
- She set the school record for lowest 54-hole total against par with her 19-underpar 197, lowest 36-hole total against par with her 6-under-par 66, lowest first round total with her 9-under-par 63 and tied the school record for lowest 18-hole total and lowest 18-hole total against par with her 9-under-par 63.
- Mack won two spring tournaments, including the regular-season finale at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., March 25-27, where she won wire-to-wire on a 3-under-par 213. She also won the NCAA Franklin Regional in Franklin, Tenn., May 9-11 on a career-low 12-under-par 204.
- She was the first Crimson Tide player to win an NCAA Regional since Stephanie Meadow did so in 2013.
- Moresco won The Ally in West Point, Miss., Oct. 25-27 wire-to-wire on a 19-under-par 197 tournament total.
- Alabama produced five All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2021-22.
- Mack and B. Moresco were both named to the All-SEC First Team.
- Moresco was also honored as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
- Isabella van der Biest was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
- Carolina Caminoli was named to the SEC Community Service Team.
- Polly Mack was also named to the final ANNIKA Award Watch List (top 10).
- Head coach Mic Potter was named to the WGCA National Coach of the Year Watch List.
- He has 64 career tournaments wins as a head coach, the fourth-most by any active coach in the country.
- Alabama is one of just three schools with two players ranked inside the top 15, joining the company of Wake Forest and Stanford.
- Mack is No. 7/7, while B. Moresco is No. 11/9 (Golfstat/Golfweek).
