
Alabama Drops To No. 15 Florida In Friday Night Road Match

The Crimson Tide will conclude its road slate on Sunday against the South Carolina Gamecocks
GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– The No. 42 Alabama women's tennis team fell, 4-0, to No. 15 Florida Friday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex. Alabama drops to 14-8 on the season and 4-6 in Southeastern Conference play, while the Gators move to 17-4 overall and 9-2 in league play.
The Match
- Florida opened with a 1-0 lead after winning doubles courts two and three, respectively
- UF would get its second point off a retirement on court one, before wins on courts six and four clinched the overall match
- Despite Florida taking the overall win, three Crimson Tide players held the advantage when the match was clinched
- Anne Marie Hiser battled through a 7-5 opening set to take the lead on court five. She was ahead 4-3 in the second set when the match was decided.
- Ola Pitak also won her opening set, going 6-4 against 64th-ranked Marlee Zein, and was battling through an evenly paced second set (2-3) when play ended
- On court three, 102nd-ranked Petra Sedlackova rallied after falling 6-2 in set one to take a decisive 6-1 victory in set two. She was up 2-0 in the third set.
