
Alabama Cross Country Hosts Crimson Classic Friday Morning at the Harry Pritchett Course

Friday’s meet marks the first time that the Crimson Tide has hosted a cross country meet since 2017
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the first time since 2017, Alabama cross country will host a meet at home.
This Friday, starting at 8:30 a.m. CT, members of the Alabama squads will race at the Harry Pritchett Running Course for the first time in five years against student-athletes from more than a dozen schools.
The Alabama men will toe the line at 8:30 a.m. CT and will compete over and 8,000-meter course, while the women go to work at 9:20 a.m. CT and will race over 6 kilometers.
The Crimson Tide in the National Rankings
- The Alabama women are ranked No. 6 in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll and No. 3 by FloTrack and the Wood Report and No. 4 by the Stride Report
- The Tide men are No. 22 in the USTFCCCA rankings, No. 13 by the Wood Report, No. 14 by FloTrack and No. 16 by the Stride Report
The Field
- The men's field, which will race over 8 kilometers, features No. 22 Alabama, Southeastern Conference foes Auburn and Georgia along with Clemson, Florida State, Alcorn State, Belmont, FIU, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, North Florida, Samford, South Alabama, Southern University and Wallace State
- The women's race, which will cover 6 kilometers, features the No. 6-ranked Crimson Tide, SEC opponents Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina along with No. 24 Florida State, Clemson, Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Belmont, FIU, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Southern University and Wallace State
Last Time Out
- In a race that included four of the nation's top-10 teams, the Alabama women took third at the Joe Piane Invitational (Sept. 30) with 70 points, just two points out of second
- In her first race of the season, Mercy Chelangat took second place, while Hilda Olemomoi was third in her second race wearing the crimson and white of Alabama
- Amaris Tyynismaa and Flomena Asekol were 15th and 18th, respectively, in their first races of the season
- Elka Machan took 32nd place to round out the Crimson Tide's scoring five
- The men's race at the Joe Piane Invitational featured five ranked teams among the top-10 finishers, the UA men took third place with 126 points
- Victor Kiprop won his second race in a row after also taking top honors at the North Alabama Showcase
- In addition to Kiprop, Eliud Kipsang was third and Hillary Cheruiyot was sixth to give the UA men three in the top six
- Jacob Wiggers finished 54th and Jacob Harris was 62nd to round out the Alabama men's scoring five
- Alabama's men and women both opened the season by winning the Lion Opener (Sept. 1) and North Alabama Showcase (Sept. 16)
Directions to the Course
- From Veterans Memorial Parkway & Loop Road: From The University of Alabama Campus to Harry Pritchett Running Park Take Paul Bryant Drive East to Hwy. 82. Go east on Hwy. 82 (to 2nd traffic light) and make a left (east) on 15th street. Go east on 15th street and continue until you see a sign for Arboretum. You must be in the right lane to take this exit. Go straight off the exit. Make a left and follow road as it curves down the hill.
- From East/ West of Tuscaloosa to Harry Pritchett Running Park: Take I-20/ 59 to exit 73 (Hwy. 82). Go west on Hwy. 82 through several traffic lights to 15th street (the light after University Mall). Make a right (east) on 15th street and continue until you see a sign for Arboretum. You must be in the right lane to take this exit. Go straight off the exit. Make a left and follow road as it curves down the hill.
