
Alabama Women’s Tennis Takes on UAB, Chattanooga in Saturday Double Header

The Crimson Tide will play the Blazers at 10 a.m. CT, before battling the Mocs at 2 p.m. CT at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team (2-0) hosts UAB (0-2) and Chattanooga (2-0) Saturday at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. The Crimson Tide will face the Blazers at 10 a.m. CT, before battling the Mocs in a 2 p.m. contest.
Admission to all Alabama tennis matches is free. Masks are strongly encouraged.

The Weekend Matchups
- The Crimson Tide hosts UAB and Chattanooga in the program's second double header of the year
- UA leads the series 25-1 against UAB with the in-state matchup dating back to 1980
- Alabama and UAB competed twice last season with UA defeating the Blazers 7-0, before following with a 4-0 victory in the second contest
- Against the Mocs, the Tide holds an 8-6 record with Alabama taking a 6-1 victory in the last meeting during the 2018 season
The Season
- Alabama opened the season on Jan. 23, sweeping Samford and Troy
- The Tide captured the doubles point in both matches with the duo of Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak going 2-0 on the day
- In singles play, Anne Marie Hiser dropped a total of just two games and secured the first singles point against the Bulldogs and Trojans
- Ola Pitak claimed the deciding point against the Bulldogs as Kasia Pitak secured the victory against the Trojans.
The Blazers
- UAB lost its opening two matches, starting the season against Furman and No. 25 Auburn
- The Blazers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Paladins after winning the doubles point and recording a win from Maggie White on court six
- The following day, UAB battled the ranked Tigers in a dual match but fell 7-0 in the matchup
- UAB went 14-7 last season, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament
Scouting the Mocs
- Chattanooga saw back-to-back wins to kick off the season
- After securing the doubles point, the Mocs took four singles courts to defeat Jacksonville State 5-2
- Two days later, Chattanooga posted a 4-3 win over Middle Tennessee winning the doubles point and three singles courts in the victory
- The Mocs finished last season with a 9-9 record
