Alabama Soccer Takes to the Road to Face South Alabama Sunday

The Tide will be playing its third-straight road contest
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team continues their road stretch to face South Alabama on Sunday, March 21, at the South Alabama Soccer Complex in Mobile, Ala. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff in what will be the 11th meeting between the Crimson Tide and the Jaguars in program history.
About Alabama
- Head coach Wes Hart is in the midst of his sixth season at Alabama and owns a career record of 50-49-13 entering Sunday's matchup
- The team returned seven starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's roster that finished the 2020 slate with a record of 2-5-2
- Earlier this fall, Alabama made its 13th appearance at the Southeastern Conference Tournament
Scouting South Alabama
- The Jaguars are in the middle of their 2020-21 season and own a record of 12-5-1 after shutting out West Florida on March 6
- Head coach Richard Moodie is in his fourth season with the Jaguars and owns a career record of 50-24-6. In 2019, Moodie led South Alabama to claim the Sun Belt regular season title along with a conference tournament championship that earned the Jaguars an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament
- Midfielder Brenna McPartlan leads the team in goals and assists, registering 10 goals and seven assists across the 2020-21 season
- Midfielder Morgan Cross has earned seven goals and five assists on the year
- Goalkeeper Addison Luckhardt has recorded 24 saves in her seven games played this season
Last Time Out
- Alabama fell to Texas Tech, 1-0, last week after a hard-fought match between the two teams
- The Crimson Tide fired off six shots, while the Red Raiders tallied seven
- UA held the advantage in corner kicks, earning 11 to Texas Tech's two
- Midfielder Felicia Knox and forward Kate Henderson led the Tide's offense, registering two shots apiece
- Goalkeeper McKinley Crone recorded three saves for the match
Returning Firepower
- Two members of the 2020-21 Crimson Tide roster received postseason honors at the conclusion of the fall
- Forward Riley Mattingly was named to the Second Team All-SEC while midfielder Felicia Knox was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team
- Mattingly returned for the Tide's opening match of the spring but suffered a lower body injury that will likely keep her out for the remainder of the spring schedule
- Knox, who scored two goals for the Tide back in the fall, returned to the pitch this spring
- Midfielder Reyna Reyes got the call to practice with the Mexican Women's National Team camp earlier this month and earned her first cap with the full team during her most recent call-up
- McKinley Crone, a transfer goalkeeper, leads Alabama in minutes played and has registered 62 saves across the 2020-21 season
- Crone ranks fourth in the SEC with an average of 5.11 saves per game entering Sunday's matchup

Alabama will host Auburn on Saturday, March 27, at the Alabama Soccer Stadium for what is scheduled to be a 2 p.m. CT kickoff. The Tide will look to keep the Iron Bowl trophy after beating Auburn in the fall.
