Alabama Volleyball Falls to Tennessee Thursday, 3-0

The Crimson Tide and Lady Vols rematch Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama volleyball fell in three sets to Tennessee Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena by set scores of 18-25, 19-25 and 13-25.
Alabama (10-17, 2-13 SEC) held the edge at the service line, 4-2, and Tennessee (18-8, 10-6 SEC) committed twice as many service errors but the Lady Vols hit a stout .469 as a team along with 13 blocks. Abby Marjama led the Crimson Tide with nine kills and Kendyl Reaugh close behind with eight. Brooke Slusser paced the offense with 25 assists and Dru Kuck led the defense with 12 digs.
The score was tied at every point through 8-8 before Tennessee scored three in a row to take an 11-8 lead. The Lady Vols remained in front at the media timeout, 15-11, and scored three more after the break to make it 18-11 as Alabama took its first team timeout. The Tide spend its second timeout down 22-14 and went on a 3-1 run but Tennessee won the set three points later at 25-18.
With Alabama leading 6-5 early in set two, a sideout kill and a service ace from Brooke Slusser made it 8-5 and Tennessee burned the early timeout. The Lady Vols fought back and eventually tied it at 15-15 and the Tide spent both of its timeouts as Tennessee built a 20-16 lead. The Lady Vols closed out the frame with a 5-3 run to win, 25-19.
After three early lead changes in the third, Tennessee started to pull away leading 9-4. Alabama took a timeout trailing 11-6 and its second down 21-13, eventually falling 25-13 to end the match in three sets.
