The Crimson Tide is now an undefeated 4-0 in dual matches

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team earned two straight wins in a doubleheader against Samford, 6-1, and North Alabama, 7-0, on Monday inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility.

"Today as well as all weekend, they were challenged physically and mentally. I think that we continue to work on our ability to execute and I think we have to challenge ourselves to face the adversities that come along with our matches, whether we're not feeling great, we some soreness, or we're playing someone in-conference or out of conference. We have to be able to execute and be able to face that, and if it's not going our way, be able to respond."

Doubles (vs. SAM)

Alabama was able to earn two quick victories to grab the first point of the day. No. 40 senior Alexey Nesterov and junior Riccardo Roberto topped their opponent, 6-2, and freshman Marcelo Sepulveda Garza and senior Zhe Zhou came out with a 6-1 win. Juniors Patrick Kaukovalta and Sam Fischer finished with a 5-3 lead.

Singles (vs. SAM)

The Crimson Tide won five of the six doubles matches. Freshman Avi Shugar got things started with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, followed by Kauvovalta who secured a 6-0, 6-3 win. Nesterov, Zhou and Sepulveda Garza topped their opponents in straight sets to make the score, 6-0. No. 96 Roberto fought hard in a three-set battle, but ultimately fell in a 10-8 tiebreaker.

Doubles (vs. UNA)

The Crimson Tide earned the doubles point winning the first two of three matches. No. 40 Nesterov/Roberto walked away with a 6-2 win and Sepulveda Garza/Zhou topped their opponent, 6-2. Kaukovalta/Fischer were leading 5-3 before the match was abandoned.

Singles (vs. UNA)

Alabama went a perfect five-for-five in straight sets. Fischer earned the first singles point by default, as a result of an abandoned match. Nesterov kicked things off with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, later followed by Sepulveda Garza with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Shugar and Zhou continued to win their second singles match of the day. Kaukovalta rounded out the day by pulling out a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
