The Tide picks up its second win of the season with goals by Clem and Mattingly
HOUSTON, Texas. - Alabama started the game off strong, registering six shots and connecting on one. Freshman Macy Clem scored her second goal of the season in the 16th minute with a header off a corner kick by freshman Serena Pham.
The Rice Owls tied the game in the 55th minute with a successful penalty kick by Haley Kostyshyn.
Sophomore Riley Mattingly later secured the victory in the 68th minute, assisted by Pham and sophomore Kat Rogers.

"It wasn't our prettiest soccer this season, but we grinded out a good win versus a good opponent. I certainly have to give Rice credit for not making it easy on us. We will enjoy this win tonight and start preparing for Lamar tomorrow."
Behind the Win
- Clem led the team with a total of three shots with two on frame, followed by junior Casey Wertz with two
- The Tide earned four more corner kicks than the Owls (6-2)
- Pham attributed assists to both goals
- Goalkeeper Alex Plavin grabbed three saves during the match
