The Tide silences the Cardinals in their third consecutive win

BEAUMONT, Texas. – The Alabama soccer team silenced the Lamar Cardinals, 5-0, in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon in Beaumont, Texas.

Alabama was off to a quick and strong start, scoring three goals in an 11-minute span to begin the first half. Redshirt sophomore Gabby Duca put the Tide on the board early with her first goal of the season in the 5^th minute off an assist from freshman Carly Wyatt. Less than two minutes later, junior Casey Wertz knocked one in with help by Duca. Sophomore Kat Rogers later increased the lead to three in the 16^th minute.

The Tide continued their strong performance in the second half, scoring an additional two goals. Freshman Carlee Giammona earned her first career goal with a successful penalty kick in the 71^st minute and sophomore Riley Mattingly topped it off in the 83^rd minute with an assist from Wertz.

"Today was a great way to end our weekend in Texas. Two wins against quality opponents that will win their fair share of games this year. I loved our energy to start the game. We jumped on them early and never looked back. It was great to see five different players score goals today, and several players saw their first action of the season. We are in a good place right now heading into a very difficult challenge at Virginia Tech."
