
Alabama Soccer to Face Two Road Tests against No. 23 Virginia Tech and Chattanooga

The Crimson Tide will play the Virginia Tech Hokies on Thursday and the Chattanooga Mocs on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team will continue its non-conference play with two road tests. The Crimson Tide will face No. 23 Virginia Tech Thursday night at 6 p.m. CT in Blacksburg, Va. and will play against Chattanooga on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT in Chattanooga, Tenn.

- 2019 record: 3-1-0
- The Tide has outshot their opponents 65-40 and has earned 27 corner kicks with their opponents only earning nine
- Sophomore forward Riley Mattingly currently ranks fifth in the SEC in shots and shots per game, 13 in four games played (3.25)

- Sunday's match-up marks the eighth meeting in series history between the Tide and the Mocs. Alabama leads the series 6-1 and has not lost to Chattanooga since 2004
- Chattanooga has a current record of 3-0-1, currently ranking first in the Southern Conference with a win percentage of .875
- The Mocs ended its 2018 campaign with an 8-8-3 overall record and a 4-3-2 SoCon mark. Their season concluded when they lost in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament to then No. 10 VMI, 0-1
- The Mocs return 15 letterwinners from last season and welcome 11 newcomers to the squad
- Head coach Gavin McKinney enters his fourth season with Chattanooga
- Chattanooga is picked to finish sixth in the SoCon according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll

- The Owls tied the game in the 55th minute with a penalty kick by Haley Kostyshyn (1-1)
- Mattingly – 68th minute to secure the victory (2-1)
- Clem led the team with three shots with two on frame
- Goalkeeper Plavin collected three saves
5-0 Shutout Win Against Lamar
- Redshirt sophomore Gabby Duca – 5th minute (1-0)
- Junior Casey Wertz – 6th minute (2-0)
- Sophomore Kat Rogers – 16th minute from a free kick (3-0)
- Three goals in less than 11 minutes
- Freshman Carlee Giammona – 71st minute, first career goal from a successful penalty kick (4-0)
- Mattingly – 83rd minute (5-0)
- The Tide dominated offensively, outshooting the Cardinals 34-7 with 22 being on frame
- Mattingly led the team with seven shots, followed by junior Taylor Morgan with five

Alabama will complete its five consecutive road matches at Jacksonville State on Thursday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. CT in Jacksonville, Ala. The Tide will return home Sunday Sept. 15 to face North Texas at 1 p.m. CT.
