No. 21 Alabama Men’s Golf to Compete in John Hayt Invitational

Crimson Tide tees off two day, 54-hole event at 7:40 a.m. ET on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 21 Alabama men's golf team returns to action this weekend when it competes at the 2019 John Hayt Invitational, hosted on the prestigious par 72, 6,976-yard Sawgrass Country Club course in Jacksonville, Fla. The Crimson Tide tees off with 36 holes on Sunday followed by 18 holes in the tournament's final round on Monday.
This will be the Crimson Tide's 12th appearance in the event and first since 2015. Alabama has captured a pair of team titles, winning back-to-back years in 2007 and 2008.
Alabama's starting five will be led by junior Josh Sedeno and sophomore Wilson Furr. Sedeno, who is coming off a tie for fourth place individual finish at the Linger Longer Invitational, leads the team in scoring average (72.11) and average vs. par (+0.78). Meanwhile, Furr who is the only golfer to have played in all eight tournaments on the year, is second on the team with a 72.45 stroke average and leads UA in top-20 finishes (4) and rounds of par or lower (10). Freshmen Prescott Butler and Frankie Capan III will also compete for the Tide, with sophomore Jake DeZoort rounding out the lineup for Alabama.
Each year, the John Hayt features one of the most competitive fields of any tournament in the nation and this year is no different. Nine of the 13 teams in this year's event ranked among the top 50 in the nation, according to Golfstat.com. Along with Alabama will be No. 9 Auburn, tournament-host No. 17 North Florida, No. 19 Clemson, No. 22 Louisville, No. 29 North Carolina, No. 30 NC State, No. 37 TCU and No. 43 Tennessee Other teams competing in the event are and No. 58 Purdue, No. 73 Coastal Carolina, Charlotte and North Texas.
Alabama will tee off the opening round on Sunday morning off Hole No. 1 at 7:40 a.m. ET (6:40 a.m. CT) and will be paired alongside Auburn, North Florida and Purdue.
