
No. 39 Crimson Tide Hosts Three Home Matches Beginning on Friday with Power of Pink Match Against No. 1 Georgia

Alabama will play the top-ranked Bulldogs on Friday at 5 p.m. and then No. 18 Tennessee and Jackson State on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 39 Alabama is set to host three matches this weekend beginning on Friday, March 29 against No. 1 Georgia for the annual Power of Pink match. The Crimson Tide (14-7, 3-4 SEC) will then play a doubleheader on Sunday versus No. 18 Tennessee at 11 a.m. and Jackson State at 5 p.m.
Following the Power of Pink match on Friday, Sunday's matches will serve as North River Yacht Club Night. Admission is free for all fans and free food will be provided on both match days. In addition, before Friday's match the Angela & The Able Brothers will be performing live.
The last time out, the Tide won its second-straight SEC match after besting No. 47 Auburn, 4-2, on Friday, March 22 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
This season Alabama has been led by junior Alba Cortina Pou who has posted a team-best 13-3 singles mark, while picking up her first career win over a nationally-ranked opponent after defeating No. 113 Alannah Griffin to clinch the match for UA over Auburn. Senior Andie Daniell came in ranked at No. 69 in the latest rankings on March 19 as she is 10-5 in singles play so far this season, including winning her last three matches. In doubles, juniors Kimberley Gintrand and Ann Selim continue to impress at the No. 3 spot, compiling a team-leading 13-4 record in 2019.
Georgia comes into Friday with a perfect 15-0 record and a No. 2 ranking in the country. The Bulldogs have five singles players that are nationally-ranked, including the No. 1 player in the nation in Katarina Jokic. UGA has played its last 12 matches against top-50 opponents, while going 12-0. In doubles action, the Bulldogs have one duo ranked with Jokic and Meg Kowalski coming in at No. 75. Georgia owns the 43-4 all-time record with the last Alabama win coming in 2015.
Sadie Hammond is the only ranked singles player for the Lady Vols, coming in at No. 85. Hammond and partner Kaitlin Staines are the No. 6 doubles pair in the country with a 13-2 mark in dual match competition. Tennessee has an impressive 13-2 home record, while only has a 1-3 mark away from Knoxville. The Lady Vols boast a 14-5 record and 4-3 in SEC this season while moving up 11 spots in the latest Oracle/ITA Team Rankings to No. 18 in the country. Tennessee is 31-19 all-time versus the Tide with UA's last victory in 2015.
Jackson State is 6-13 on the year, while posting a 3-2 record in conference play. Alabama is 3-0 all-time against JSU with UA winning the season-opening doubleheader against Jackson State in 2018 in Tuscaloosa.
