TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama returns home for a four-match home swing beginning with No. 47 Auburn on Friday at 5 p.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. There will be a Crimson Racket Club cookout where free food will be provided for all in attendance while supplies last. Friday night is also Indian Hills Country Club Night.
The last time out, the Crimson Tide (13-7, 2-4 SEC) went on the road and defeated Mississippi State, 4-2, on Sunday in Starkville, Miss., to snap a four-match losing streak to the Bulldogs.
The Tide is led by No. 69 senior Andie Daniell who has won her last two matches and boasts a 10-5 record in 2019. Junior Alba Cortina Pou leads the team with a 12-3 mark and sophomore Moka Ito is 11-4, while picking up her first win over a nationally-ranked opponent when she bested No. 81 Emma Antonaki on Sunday. In doubles, juniors Kimberley Gintrand and Ann Selim are tops on the team with a 12-4 record.
Alabama leads 35-28 in the all-time series between the two programs with Auburn winning the earlier meeting this season in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Feb. 23 in Montgomery, Ala. The Tigers came away with the 4-3 win after claiming the doubles point and winning three singles matches.
Auburn is still seeking its first SEC win of the season after going dropping its first six conference contests. Last weekend the Tigers fell on the road to Mississippi State and Ole Miss both by a score of 4-2. The Tigers have two singles players ranked in No. 91 Jaeda Daniel and No. 113 Alannah Griffin. In doubles, Sophia Graver and Taylor Russo come in at No. 29.
Both matches will have a live stream and live scoring available to fans.
