Alabama Women’s Tennis Preps to Host a Pair of Matches this Weekend

The Crimson Tide seeks its ninth-straight win as they play host to No. 21 UCF on Friday and ETSU on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team will host another pair of matches this weekend when it welcomes No. 21 UCF on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by taking on ETSU on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both contests will be streamed on RollTide.com and will be played at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. Admission is free for all fans.
PROMOTIONS
Friday's match will mark Morgan Stanley Night and free Taco Mama will be provided to the first 100 fans.
ABOUT ALABAMA
Alabama remains perfect in the 2019 campaign sporting an 8-0 record, including an impressive six shutouts. As a team, Alabama has yet to forfeit a doubles point, combining for a 18-0 record in doubles play. Juniors Ann Selim and Kimberley Gintrand have compiled a 7-0 mark in doubles.
So far this season, junior Alba Cortina Pou and sophomore Moka Ito each boast a 6-0 record in singles, while senior Andie Daniell enters the weekend ranked No. 47 in singles, posting a 4-1 record on the season.
SCOUTING REPORT
The 21st-ranked Knights (4-2) and Alabama will meet for the second time in program history after the Crimson Tide defeated UCF 4-3 in the inaugural matchup, on Jan. 26, 2018, in Orlando, Fla. Doubles duo Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova have gone 6-0 on the season and are ranked No. 16 in the latest ITA/Oracle rankings. Individually Zeleva checks in at No. 34 in singles after a 6-0 start.
ETSU comes to Tuscaloosa with a 4-3 record on the season. The Tide owns a 2-0 series advantage over the Buccaneers, after the last meeting in 1990.
