Alabama Soccer Falls to Vanderbilt, 2-1, in Regular Season Finale

Despite a tough fight, the Tide ultimately could not complete the comeback
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team fell to the Vanderbilt Commodores at the Alabama Soccer Stadium, 2-1. This match concluded the regular season for the Tide, as well as the conference.
Within the first half, Vanderbilt's Paola Ellis scored two goals in 5 minutes to get the squad on the board. With her goals in the 11th and 15th minute, her efforts gave the team a lead by two. Junior Casey Wertz scored Alabama's lone goal in the 23rd minute unassisted.

- "Our game from here on out is a one-game season. We play Auburn, which is a match up that I love to play and got to believe they're going to be excited about that too. It should be a fun first round in Orange Beach. We're going to put this one behind us and move on."

- Despite the outcome, Alabama outshot the Tigers 14-11 with four on frame. Wertz and freshman Macy Clem led the Tide with three shots each.
- Alabama and Vanderbilt both earned five corner kick opportunities.
- Casey Wertz's lone goal brought her total points for the season to 17 (5g-7a), surpassing her total of 16 (8g) from last season.
- Freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks collected six saves.

Alabama will face Auburn in the First Round of the SEC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. CT. The Tide enters the tournament as the 7th seed, facing Auburn who sits at 10th.
