TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 49th-ranked Alabama women's tennis team hosts Mississippi State and UT Martin in a Saturday doubleheader for the annual Power of Pink match on March 10. The Crimson Tide will face the Bulldogs at noon CT and will later challenge the Skyhawks at 6 p.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The Power of Pink initiative was started during the 2004-05 season by legendary Alabama coach Sarah Patterson to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The Crimson Tide will put aside its Crimson and White uniforms and wear pink in support of the cause.
Alabama gymnastics kicked off the Power of Pink season on Feb. 2 where prior to its meet, a check totaling more than $100,000 was presented, representing the amount raised for the DCH Breast Cancer Fund over the past year, as well as a check for nearly $2 million, representing the total amount raised for the fund since the Power of Pink's initial season.
