The Crimson Tide fell to the Bulldogs, 4-3, in the afternoon, but bounced back and defeated the Skyhawks, 4-0, in the night cap

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 49 Alabama women's tennis team split the day, falling to Mississippi State in a hard-fought battle, 4-3, and ended the night blanking UT Martin, 4-0, in the Power of Pink match on Saturday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The women's tennis program also recognized over 20 alumni during the first match against the Bulldogs.

In the conference match against MSU, the Bulldogs captured wins at No. 1 and No. 3 in doubles play to take the 1-0 lead. MSU's Rentouli/Lizariturry defeated senior Smith Hinton and sophomore Jacqueline Pelletier, 6-1, on court three, and soon thereafter, the Bulldog duo of Harrison/Vozniak topped junior Andie Daniell and sophomore Luca Fabian, 6-1, on court one.

In singles, the Crimson Tide surged to a 3-1 lead, thanks to back-to-back wins at No. 2 and No. 1. Hinton quickly took care of Janina Braun, 6-4, 6-2, on court two, while No. 124 Daniell handled Madison Harrison, 7-5, 6-3.

However, the Bulldogs battled back into the match, knotting the score at three apiece after winning at No. 3 and No. 5. MSU's Magda Adaloglou defeated Pelletier, 6-4, 6-3, while Sara Lizariturry topped freshman Kylie Moulin, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, on court five.

In the deciding match at No. 4, Selim took set one, 6-4, but MSU's Anastasia Rentouli rallied back in set two to win, 6-3. After a short rain delay, the two student-athletes battle back-and-forth in front of a lively crowd, but Rentouli won the final set, 6-3, to end the match.

In the night cap against UT Martin, Alabama took the early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Daniell and Fabian took down Jumamukhambetova/Potter at No. 1, while Hinton and Pelletier cruised past Plantada/Campbell, 6-2, at No. 3.

In singles, the Crimson Tide dominated on all courts, sweeping the first three matches to snap a six-match skid. Pelletier set the tone at No. 3, cruising past Jule Streif, 6-1, 6-1. Moments later, Daniell took care of business at No. 1, downing Asel Jumamukhambetova, 6-1, 6-1. To secure the win, sophomore Kimberley Gintrand answered the call and handled Amelia Campbell, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6.

Up next, Alabama will hit the road again when it faces in-state rival, No. 18 Auburn, March 16 at 2 p.m. CT. In the first meeting of the season, the Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide 4-0 in the third round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Feb. 24.
