
Alabama Men’s Tennis Hits the Road to Take on No. 40 Ole Miss and No. 43 Arkansas This Weekend

The Crimson Tide takes on the Rebels on Friday at 5 p.m. CT and the Razorbacks on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 47 Alabama men's tennis team hits the road to take on No. 40 Ole Miss on Friday at 5 p.m. in Oxford, Miss., and No. 43 Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Crimson Tide will look to get back on track after suffering a hard-fought 5-2 loss at No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday in College Station, Texas.
So far this season in doubles play Alabama has been led by the duo of junior Mazen Osama and sophomore Edson Ortiz, who have compiled a 13-3 record, including 3-3 in SEC play. The sophomore pair of Alexey Nesterov and Thibault Cancel comes into the weekend as the No. 71-ranked tandem in the country after earning a 9-5 mark during the dual match season.
In singles action, the Tide is led by its lone upperclassmen on the team in No. 95 Osama who is coming off a big win over Texas A&M's No. 37 Patrick Kypson last Sunday. Osama is tops on the team with three wins over nationally ranked opponents. Ortiz (14-4) and Nesterov (13-3) rank No. 1 and No. 2 on the team in total singles wins in 2018.
As a team, Alabama dropped five spots to No. 47 in the most recent Oracle/ITA Team Rankings that were released on Tuesday.
Ole Miss has multiple players that are nationally-ranked, including Tim Sandkaulen at No. 28 and Gustav Hansson at No. 41. In doubles play, the Rebels have Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert at No. 20, Zvonimir Babic and Hansson at No. 51, along with Filip Kraljevic and Babic at No. 66. Arkansas has one singles player ranked in Jose Salazar at No. 65.
The Rebels have lost six-straight matches, while the Razorbacks have dropped their last three.
