
Alabama Men’s Tennis Comes Up Short at No. 40 Ole Miss, 4-2

After falling down 2-0 to start the match, the Crimson Tide could not complete the comeback
OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 47 Alabama men's tennis team's comeback fell short at No. 40 Ole Miss, after falling 4-2 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on Friday night.
The Crimson Tide (15-7, 1-6 SEC) fell behind 2-0 to the Rebels (10-9, 2-7 SEC) and closed the gap to 3-2 before Ole Miss clinched the match.
Ole Miss began the night by earning the doubles point after winning on Court 2 and Court 1 to go up 1-0.
Grey Hamilton extended the Rebels lead to 2-0 after he defeated freshman Patrick Kaukovalta, 6-2, 6-2. Alabama answered back with freshman Riccardo Roberto dominating Cotter Wilson, 6-3, 6-1, to make it 2-1 in favor of Ole Miss. Moments later, the Rebels moved the lead to 3-1 after Finn Reynolds took care of sophomore Alexey Nesterov, 6-1, 6-4.
Later on in the match, sophomore Edson Ortiz earned a three-set victory over Filip Kraljevic, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, to pull the Tide within one point. However, Ole Miss clinched the match on Court 1 with No. 28 Tim Sandkaulen pushing past No. 95 junior Mazen Osama, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
The Crimson Tide will return to action on Sunday, April 1 at No. 43 Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT.
