Happy Homecoming!
It's Homecoming Week in Tuscaloosa, and we look forward to welcoming so many of you back to our wonderful campus. In addition to our usual lineup of game-day events, there are several other activities planned throughout the week that are specific to Homecoming including the annual pep rally and bonfire Friday night and the parade on Saturday.
Bryant Society Induction
Last night, we had the privilege of honoring four couples whose generosity has made an indelible mark on our athletics department. Kathy and Mike Mouron, Dyron and Lily Overton, Pat and David Peterson and Charlene and Larry Shaffer Sr. were formally inducted into the Bryant Society during a black-tie ceremony and dinner. The Bryant Society is the pinnacle of the Crimson Tide Foundation's Lifetime Giving Society, which was created to recognize the lifetime contributions of the donors who philanthropically support Alabama Athletics. The generosity of those in the Bryant Society is humbling and inspiring, and we were pleased to be able to honor these four couples last night, which brings our total number of members in the society to 35. In addition to last night's festivities, they will also be recognized on the field before we kick off against Missouri. Please give them a round of applause on Saturday to thank them for their commitment to Alabama Athletics.

Many asked, and we listened! We've made the decision to bring back Dixieland Delight, however in order for us to continue playing it beyond this weekend we're going to need help from all of those in attendance to keep the added lyrics clean (insert video link of social post from this afternoon's run through). This is one of the great traditions at Bryant-Denny Stadium that I know is important to our fans, alumni, students and our team, so let's do it right!
Check out this video on how to do Dixieland Delight right.

Tide Tipoff set for Monday Night
A reminder that we will officially ring in the new basketball season with the fourth annual SUPE Store Tide Tipoff on Monday night in Coleman Coliseum. Doors open for autographs at 6 p.m., and the on-court event will follow at 7 p.m. We will have several giveaways for those in attendance, and admission is free!
Career Fair Success
Our DRIVE for Success program recently hosted its annual career fair in Bryant-Denny Stadium, giving our student-athletes a chance to learn more about the possibilities open to them after graduation. The chance to learn where a University of Alabama degree can take you is a great opportunity and an invaluable resource. The event also gives prospective employers the chance to meet and get to know our amazing students and find the next valuable member of their team. This is just another way our Student-Athlete Enhancement initiative is preparing Crimson Tide student-athletes for life beyond graduation.
Working Hard in the Community
A number of our student-athletes from several different teams took part in a Habitat for Humanity build this past weekend. It was extremely gratifying to see members of the Crimson Tide out in Tuscaloosa, dedicated to giving back and making a difference in the world around them. I especially liked what Alize Ford from our track and field team said, "It feels amazing, just like winning a gold medal. It can't get any better than this, helping somebody that actually needs it from the good of our heart." Well said Alize! We are so proud of the efforts of our Crimson Tide student-athletes and staff to be good neighbors and engaged members of the community.
Rhyan White Earns Bronze
Congrats to freshman swimmer Rhyan White, who is competing at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina this week, on earning Team USA's first swimming medal at this year's games on Monday, taking the bronze in the 100-meter backstroke. She also took fourth place in the 200-meter backstroke and fourth in the 50-meter backstroke.
Bama Gymnastics Kickoff
After our women's basketball team's exhibition game against Faulkner on Oct. 21 in Coleman Coliseum, we encourage everyone to head over to the men's basketball practice facility at 5 p.m. when the gymnastics team will host its Bama Gymnastics Kickoff event that will include free food and giveaways. Fans will have the chance to meet this year's team, coaches and staff, have their picture taken in front of the iconic BAMA letters as well as stand on the Circle A that our gymnasts are introduced on prior to our home meets.
University Spotlight
I know we mentioned this prior to the football season as one of our 18 enhancements for the 2018 season, however I wanted to remind fans that the UA Office of Sustainability, in partnership with UA Gameday, has increased its recycling efforts on game day. In addition to a recycling tent and several recycling bins, staff members will be circulating throughout the Quad with recycling bags to hand out to tailgaters. Let's all do our part to Go Green!
#RollTideFriday
This week's featured photos come to us from stateside and beyond. First, we have the Farris boys out in California rocking their Alabama T-shirts and crimson socks, and secondly, you see Chip Clausen at the Leyte Landing Memorial all the way in Leyte, Philippines.
