Crimson Tide will play in second tournament in as many weeks
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 19 Alabama men's golf team will compete in its second tournament in as many weeks when it travels to Olympia Fields, Ill., to compete in the Olympia Fields Country Club/Fighting Illini Invitational. The tournament will take place Sept. 15-17 at the famed Olympia Fields Country Club North Course, a par-70, 7,353-yard track that has hosted two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, five Western Opens and a U.S. Senior Open among other high-level tournaments.
The Crimson Tide lineup will be led by junior Davis Riley playing in the No. 1 spot, followed by senior Lee Hodges at No. 2. Senior Jonathan Hardee is in the No. 3 position, while sophomore Josh Sedeno and freshman Davis Shore round out Alabama's starting five.
This year's tournament boasts another competitive field, featuring 11 teams which are ranked in the preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Top-25 Poll, including five teams in the top 10 and 10 in the top 20. Top-ranked Oklahoma State headlines the 15-team field, followed by No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 tournament host Illinois, No. 6 Texas, No. 8 USC, No. 12 UNLV, No. 14 Stanford, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 19 Alabama and No. 20 Florida State. California, North Carolina and Northwestern each received votes to be ranked in the poll, while unranked Indiana and Navy round out the teams competing in this weekend's three-day, 54-hole event.
The Crimson Tide will tee off its first round at 8:45 a.m. CT off Hole No. 10. Live scoring can be found throughout the tournament on Golfstat.com.
