The Crimson Tide will face Middle Tennessee on Thursday, Aug. 10 for an exhibition match at 7 p.m. in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide soccer team will host Middle Tennessee on Thursday, August 10, for a friendly exhibition match at 7 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Complex after over a week of preseason practices. This event marks the only exhibition game of the 2017 preseason.
Alabama leads the all-time series with Middle Tennessee, 4-1, however, Thursday night's game will not be recorded in the books. In the last meeting, the match ended in a split decision, 2-2, on Aug. 31, 2014, in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Crimson Tide made drastic improvements last year nearly doubling its win total from two seasons ago and looks to continue that momentum into the 2017 season. Alabama registered a 9-8-2 overall record, finished ninth in the conference and made an appearance at the 2016 SEC Tournament for the first time since 2014. Alabama returns a plethora of talented student-athletes, as 17 letterwinners return for the 2017 fall season including nine starters. The Tide welcomes 13 newcomers to the squad.
Alabama's exhibition with Middle Tennessee is the only friendly match of the 2017 preseason before the Crimson Tide opens their campaign with back-to-back home games against Jacksonville State on August 18, and Samford on August 20, both at 7 p.m. CT.
