
Alabama Set to Compete at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this Weekend

Crimson Tide sending largest contingent ever to this year’s meet at Texas A&M
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams will send 21 athletes to the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in College Station, Texas, March 10-11. The meet will be held at the Gilliam Indoor Track at Texas A&M University. The Crimson Tide will compete in seven men's events and nine women's events at the two-day meet.
Competing for the Tide men will be seniors Steven Gayle (400 meters, 4x400 relay), Kyle Felpel (shot put),  Elias Hakansson (weight throw) and Jacopo Lahbi (4x400 relay); juniors Jereem Richards (200 meters, 4x400 relay), Alfred Chelanga (5,000 meters), Angelo Goss (60-meter hurdles), Ruebin Walters (60-meter hurdles) and Daniel Haugh (weight throw); sophomore Skyler Bowden (4x400 relay) and freshman Will Allen (4x400 relay).
Women's competitors for Alabama will be seniors Quanesha Burks (long jump, 60 meters), Alex Gholston (400 meters, 4x400 relay), Vanessa Clerveaux (60-meter hurdles), Lakan Taylor (pole vault), Domonique Williams (4x400 relay) and Diamond Gause (4x400 relay); junior Haley Teel (shot put); sophomore Stacey Destin (high jump, pentathlon) and freshmen Takyera Roberson (4x400 relay) and Symone Darius (4x400 relay).

Live results for both days of this weekend's NCAA meet can be found at NCAA.com. Additionally, the meet will be streamed live on ESPN3 Friday, March 10 beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT and Saturday, March 11 beginning at 4 p.m. CT. A championships will air on ESPN2 on Sunday, March 12, at 7 p.m. CT.

The Crimson Tide men are No. 6 and the women are No. 7 in their respective U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor National Team Rankings released March 6.
Head Coach Dan Waters' Outlook
"I think we're sending a very strong team to the NCAA championships this year. We have four athletes who are school record-holders and both of our relays are the fastest in school history as well. We performed well at the SEC meet and are in position to have a good meet this weekend."
