
Alabama Track & Field Teams Turn in Another Solid Day at Bob Pollock Invitational

4x400-meter relay teams turn in national top-10 performances on Saturday
CLEMSON, S.C. – Alabama's 4x400-meter relay teams turned performances that rank among the best in school history – and among the best in the nation this season – as the Crimson Tide track & field teams wrapped up competition at Clemson's Bob Pollock Invitational on Saturday.
"I thought we had a very solid day today," Alabama head coach Dan Waters said following the meet. "We had some program top-10 performances individually and the 4x400 relays performed very well. All in all, this was a good couple of days for us and gives us some momentum going into the second half of the season."
The women's relay quartet of freshmen Takyera Roberson and Symone Darius and seniors Diamond Gause and Domonique Williams posted the second-fastest time in school history, crossing the finish line in 3:35.91. The time is also the seventh-fastest in the country this year. On the men's side, the relay squad of senior Steven Gayle, sophomore Skyler Bowden, senior Jacopo Lahbi and junior Jereem Richards sprinted to the third-fastest time in school history to win in 3:07.67. The time is the fourth-fastest in the country this season.
In the individual events, freshman Takyera Roberson finished second in the 200 meters in a personal-best time of 23.54. Roberson's time is the third-fastest in Alabama indoor history and the seventh-fastest nationally this season. – Junior Haley Teel won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 52-5 1/4 (15.98m) on her final attempt. The mark is the fourth-best in school history.
For the men, junior Alfred Chelanga made his debut for the Tide, winning the 3,000 meters in 8:06.79. The time is the 10th-fastest in school history. Senior Antibahs Kosgei finished second in a personal-best 8:09.33. In the shot put, Alabama swept the top four spots in the event for the second meet in a row. Senior Kyle Felpel won the event for third time this season with a mark of 61-1 1/4 (18.62m). Sophomore Kord Ferguson finished second at 58-1 3/4 (17.72m) while seniors Nathan Karr (54-0 1/2; 16.47m) and Hayden Reed (53-9 3/4; 16.40m) finished third and fourth.
Alabama's next scheduled meets take place Feb. 10-11, with the teams splitting their squads between the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
Men's Day 2 Event Summaries – Bob Pollock Invitational
800 Meters – Seniors Jacopo Lahbi (1:51.82) and Payton Ballard (1:53.57) finished third and fifth, respectively. Freshman Oliver Rigg finished eighth in 1:54.30. The times for Ballard and Rigg are personal bests.
200 Meters – Sophomore Matthew Likely finished 13th in a season-best time of 22.01.
3,000 Meters – In his Alabama debut, junior Alfred Chelanga won the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:06.79, the 10th-fastest time in school history. Senior Antibahs Kosgei finished second in personal-best 8:09.33. Junior Conner Thompson finished fourth in 8:15.09.

600 Meters – Sophomore Sarah Mohan finished third in the women's 600 meters in 1:36.33
800 Meters – Sophomore Kristyn Williams finished fifth in 2:10.55. Junior Caroline Barlow finished 12th in 2:16.00 and freshman Caroline Brooks finished 19th in 2:17.79. All three times are personal bests.

3,000 Meters – Sophomore Nicole Gardner finished fifth in a personal-best time of 9:45.08. Freshmen Rebecca Buteau (9:49.98) and Elisabeth Danis (10:09.51) finished sixth and 10th, respectively. Junior Jessica Gray finished 11th in a personal-best 10:10.90.
