TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The national accolades continue to roll in for Alabama junior Sydney Littlejohn, with ESPNW tabbing her as its Player of the Week on Wednesday.
This is the third honor Littlejohn has received this week after going 3-0 last week in three starts, earning a win over No. 15 Missouri and two wins over No. 1 Florida. On Monday, she was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week. She then received national accolades on Tuesday as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Pitcher of the Week.
Littlejohn started her week by clinching the series victory for Alabama over the Tigers on March 28, holding the potent Missouri offense to just two runs on four hits. In two starts that following weekend against top-ranked Florida in Gainesville, she allowed just one run on seven hits over 13.1 innings pitched, including just one extra-base hit. She handed Florida its first home loss of the season on Friday and its first SEC series-opening loss in nearly two years. Sunday's 3-0 shutout in the series rubber match marked the first time the Gators had been shut out in Gainesville since Alabama did so on March 23, 2014.
