Alabama
Head Coach Patrick Murphy
Opening Statement:
"It was a great game by Lexi (Alexis Osorio). We were one Texas leaguer away from a perfect game through 16 batters. Just an awesome performance by a freshman in her first NCAA appearance. Jayden (Spencer) gets a hit and she passes it down to run with two outs and the bases loaded. That's who you want up. She got the first RBI and ended the game. Great game overall for us. We know whoever it is tomorrow it's going to be a tough game. We are not expecting that sort of game. Whoever it is is going to be a tough opponent. We will be ready to go."
#9 Marisa Runyon, 3B, So.
On getting in timely hits:
"We've really practiced passing the ball down. We've done it this whole weekend where we are just trying to pass it down and hit it hard. That's been our goal. If it gets caught, it gets caught. If it's a base hit, it's a base hit. That's been the goal. We are getting better and better with bases loaded to get RBIs."
#27 Alexis Osorio, P, Fr.
On how the extra rest helped her and how she felt today:
"Coming out today I felt really nice and loose. My body felt great. Getting that extra rest was awesome. It feels great on my body."
Washington
Head Coach Heather Tarr
Opening Statement:
"Obviously this is not the result we wanted. Today we thought we wanted to work backwards to our best pitcher, who is (Kasey) Stanchek obviously. Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to do much offensively to keep ourselves in the game. We have to have a short memory because we want to get back there tomorrow."
#11 Kylee Lahners, CF, Sr.
On what makes Alabama pitcher Alexis Osorio so effective:
"She keeps the batters off balance very well. If you are a pitcher that's exactly what you want to do. You want the hitters to start thinking about certain pitches and stuff like that. She did a great job today keeping us off balance, and we didn't make our adjustments quick enough."
#6 Jennie McNeill, SS, Jr.
On how good Washington is this year at seeing and hitting the ball:
"We are really good. I think we know we are a great offensive team and we know what we are capable of. We are just going to take the next game one pitch at a time."
