Haylie McCleney Named Preseason All-SEC

TUSCALOOSA, Ala . - Alabama junior Haylie McCleney has been named to the 2015 Preseason All-SEC Team, announced by the Southeastern Conference on Thursday.
McCleney was a First Team All-SEC honoree last season and was also named to the SEC All-Defense team. In conference play, she hit .386 with 27 hits, 23 runs, 13 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 24 starts in center field. McCleney is one of six players on the list who are making their second appearance, along with Auburn's Emily Carosone, Florida's Kelsey Stewart, Georgia's Paige Wilson, Kentucky's Griffin Joiner and LSU's A.J. Andrews.
Eight of the conference's 13 teams are represented, led by Auburn and Georgia with three selections each. Florida, Kentucky, LSU and Missouri have two representatives each while Alabama and Tennessee each have one.
Alabama won its fifth SEC regular season championship last season and was voted second in the 2015 preseason poll behind defending national champion Florida. The Tide are ranked in the top five in both preseason polls, placing third in the USA Today/NFCA poll and fourth in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
Alabama opens the 2015 season tonight against South Alabama in Mobile before heading to Gulf Shores for the Sand Dollar Classic starting on Friday, Feb. 6. Alabama opens SEC play on March 6 at home against Ole Miss.
