
Women's Golf in Third After Second Round

AUBURN, Ala. - The Alabama women's golf team continues to be in the hunt at the Derby Invitational. The Crimson Tide fired a second round score of 302 (+14) to move into third place with a 36-hole score of 596 (+20). After the day the Tide trail second place Virginia by nine strokes and the leader Arizona State by 12 strokes.
Alabama continues to pace the Southeastern Conference field but five schools follow the Tide in order, including host Auburn who currently sits in fourth place, six strokes behind UA. Ole Miss, Georgia, South Carolina and LSU round out the top seven squads.
Leading the way on day two for the Crimson Tide was the Sweden duo of Helena Blomberg and Camilla Lennarth. The tandem both fired second round scores of 74 (+2) at the University Golf Club. Blomberg is currently tied for eighth overall with a 36-hole score of 147 (+3). Lennarth is now tied for 15th overall with a two-day score of 151 (+7).
Tied with Blomberg for eighth overall after 36 holes with a 147 (+3) is newcomer Brooke Pancake. The freshman fired a second round of 77 (+5). Pancake recorded one birdie on the day, finding the cup in four on the par-5-16th.
Senior Kathleen Ekey and sophomore Courtney Harter are tied on the leader board at 31st overall. The duo has identical 36-hole scores of 155 (+11) after the day. Ekey fired a second round score of 77 (+5) while Harter turned in an 81 (+9).
Senior Laura Goodwin turned in a 78 (+5) to move up to 59th overall. Over the course of 36 holes, Goodwin has tallied a 159 (+15). The Birmingham, Ala. native drilled two birdies on the day, sinking them on the par-4-9th and the par-4-15th.
Alabama will tee-off in the first group in the morning at 8 a.m. The Crimson Tide will be joined by the Sun Devils and the Cavaliers in the final round.
