Tuscaloosa, AL?? The University of Alabama soccer team fell 4-0 to Ole Miss Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
"You have to commend Ole Miss they played an overtime game on Friday with Auburn and they came out on fire against us today" head coach Don Staley said. "Ole Miss has some premier players who were able to cut the ball and capitalized on their chances. The loss today is disappointing after Friday nights win over Mississippi State, we are now in a position that for us to get into postseason play we have to win some games on the road."
Ole Miss (7-4-3, 3-0-3 SEC) started the scoring only 7:18 into the game when Lyndsey Williams took a free kick for the Rebels that sailed over the head of her teammate and Alabama goalkeeper Kara Gudmens and into the back of the net. Ole Miss struck again 13 minutes later when Hannah Weatherly fired a shot from the back line that bounced off the far post into the net to give Ole Miss the 2-0 lead.
The Rebels took a 3-0 lead into halftime after Perryn Tyler was able to sneak the ball inside the post with less than three minutes to play in the first half. Ole Miss's Kelly Renie headed in the final goal off a cross pass from Christine Liberto.
Alabama (5-9, 1-5 SEC) will travel to Arkansas on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and LSU on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The Tide will return home for their final home game of the season on October 22 against Georgia.
