Fayetteville, Ark.?? The University of Alabama Soccer team fell to Arkansas 5-0 Friday night at in front of 611 fans at Lady Back Stadium. The loss drops the Tide to 5-10 and 1-6 in the Southeastern Conference.

“You have to give Arkansas credit, we had several mistakes that they were able to take advantage of tonight” head coach Don Staley said. “I am very disappointed in the way we played. This is a tough SEC road trip, now we have to get ready to play at LSU on Sunday.”

Arkansas (10-4, 3-3 SEC) took an early lead just six minutes into the game when Lindsey Patterson broke away from the Tide defense on the right side of the 18 yard box and fired a goal just inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. The Razorbacks struck again at 19:06 when Christina Burger’s shot from the left wing rolled into the back of the net for the 2-0 advantage.

Burger scored her second goal of the game just six minutes later when Bama goalkeeper Kara Gudmens left the net after a loose ball and Burger was able to get behind Gudmens and shoot into the open goal to give Arkansas the 3-0 lead. The Hogs added to their lead with five minutes left in the first half when Kat Moffett scored with a shot over the head of Alabama keeper Brittni Lally from 12 yards out.

Arkansas continued the scoring just five minutes into the second half when Allison Harter found the back of the net from 8 yards out to give the Hogs a 5-0 lead.

Alabama will continue the SEC road trip Sunday in Baton Rouge against LSU at 1:00 p.m.
