Colton Houston enters his fourth year as director of basketball operations and his eighth season with the Alabama men's basketball program. In addition to his current position, Houston has also spent time as the operations coordinator (2013-15), athletics intern (2011-13) and office assistant (2010-11).
As the team's director of operations, Houston serves as the point person for non-conference scheduling, team travel, and analytics. He is also the director of Avery Johnson Basketball Camp and the staff’s liaison to its various Tipoff Clubs around the state. In addition, Houston is involved with on-campus recruiting, oversight of team managers, and special events such as Tide Tipoff and alumni reunions.
Prior to taking over the director of operations role, Houston spent two years as the operations coordinator in which his responsibilities included helping with the statistical analysis of games and practices, assisting with team travel, oversight of staff and student-athlete tickets for home and away games, and helping with the program's compliance efforts, along with other day-to-day duties as assigned by the coaching staff.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Houston graduated from Harvard in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in government. Following his graduation, he was a teacher and assistant boys basketball coach at Christ School (Arden, N.C.), helping guide them to the 3A state title in 2005.
Houston went on to receive a master's degree in divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in 2010. He married the former Megan McCall in 2008 and the couple has two daughters, Caroline and Garland Grace.
